La misión de JTC es servir a niños con pérdida auditiva y a sus familias. JTC ofrece oportunidades limitadas para que profesionales voluntarios participen en programas especializados, como la Sesión Internacional TAV y las Sesiones Internacionales de Lenguaje Hablado y Escucha (LSL), que apoyan a los padres de niños en edad preescolar con pérdida auditiva. Esas sesiones suelen ofrecerse en junio o julio. Detalles clave para voluntarios: Elegibilidad: Se da prioridad a profesionales con experiencia en Terapia Auditivo-Verbal (AVT) y campos relacionados. Roles de voluntariado: Los voluntarios asisten en aulas preescolares, apoyan la participación de los niños y no están involucrados en asesorar a las familias. Requisitos: -Completar una solicitud de voluntariado en JTC. -Presentar documentos de salud requeridos. -Organizar y cubrir los costos de transporte, comidas y alojamiento (aproximadamente $60 por noche en alojamiento organizado por JTC). -Evitar conflictos de interés, como ofrecer servicios a las familias. Horario: Una semana típica incluye de 4 a 5 horas diarias, que incluyen: -Asistencia en actividades preescolares (2–3 horas diarias). -Participación en talleres para padres (1 hora diaria). -Observación de hasta dos citas TAV por semana. -Llevar almuerzo para un descanso de 30 minutos. Oportunidades: Los espacios son extremadamente limitados, y las sesiones de voluntariado duran de una a dos semanas.

To qualify as a 4th year Audiology extern at JTC, graduate students must be enrolled in a clinical doctorate program in Audiology and have completed the required course work including pediatric audiology and electrophysiology. A required professional experience (RPE) is required in the state of California, you can find more information about obtaining this temporary license here: https://www.speechandhearing.ca.gov/applicants/app_pack_au.shtml Additionally, a mutual agreement between the prospective graduate clinician and JTC is required. Your contributions are highly appreciated, and your presence is warmly welcomed. The scope of volunteer work varies, encompassing a range of roles and assignments. JTC aims to align visitor volunteers with areas of expertise and interest whenever feasible. Throughout the year, various programs and services at JTC provide opportunities for short-term volunteering. These include the Preschool, Parent-Infant Program, Friday Family School, International Sessions, Counseling & Child Development, Deaf & Hard of Hearing support, Listening & Spoken Language assistance, Events coordination, and participation in other Special Projects. These opportunities typically last less than two weeks but still offer a valuable and enriching experience for both the volunteer and the community.
