Volunteers play a crucial role at John Tracy Center, making a significant difference through their interactions with children, families, visitors, and staff. Their contributions are highly appreciated, and their presence warmly welcomed. The scope of volunteer work varies, encompassing a range of roles, training, and assignments. JTC aims to align volunteers with their areas of expertise and interest whenever feasible. John Tracy Center endeavors to align volunteers with areas that match their expertise and interests whenever feasible. Throughout the year, various programs and services at JTC provide opportunities for volunteering. These include the Preschool, Parent-Infant Program, Friday Family School, International Sessions, Counseling & Child Development, Deaf & Hard of Hearing support, Listening & Spoken Language assistance, Events coordination, and participation in other Special Projects. These opportunities may range from a few days to several weeks or even months in duration.
At John Tracy Center (JTC), we offer diverse volunteer opportunities, each with specific age requirements. Please find the age requirements for each opportunity listed below: 1. Preschool Volunteers: I. Age Requirement: Volunteers must be at least 18 years old. II. Preference: Preference is given to local university students who are under faculty supervision. III. Physical Capability: Volunteers must be physically capable of engaging in typical preschool activities, including sitting for extended periods, lifting and holding children, and participating in active play. IV. Commitment: A minimum commitment of 30 hours per semester is expected from volunteers. V. Availability: Volunteer hours are primarily available from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM or 12:30 PM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Thursday, and 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Friday. These requirements ensure that volunteers are able to effectively contribute to the preschool program and provide valuable support to the children and staff at John Tracy Center. 2. General Volunteer Opportunities: I. Minimum Age: 16 years old II. Additional Notes: Volunteers under 18 may require adult supervision, depending on the task. 3. Special Events Volunteers: I. Minimum Age: 16 years old II. Additional Notes: Volunteers under 18 may require adult supervision, depending on the event. Please be aware that age requirements may vary depending on the specific nature of the volunteer opportunity and the tasks involved. At John Tracy Center, our top priority is ensuring the safety and well-being of the children in our care. To maintain this commitment, we require all volunteers to undergo a thorough screening process. This includes completing a Live Scan background check, a Health Screening report, as well as providing documentation of immunizations and a TB test. These measures help to ensure the safety and security of our children and create a trusted environment for all involved.
If a volunteer chooses to resign before the anticipated end of the agreed-upon length of service, it is expected that they provide at least one week's written notice. This notice should be communicated to their supervisor as soon as possible.
