John Tracy Center
At John Tracy Center, we deeply value the contribution of our short-term visitor volunteers, recognizing the pivotal role you play in realizing our mission. Even during a brief stay, your involvement is integral to our collaborative efforts to create a meaningful impact. Visitor volunteers make a significant difference at John Tracy Center through their interactions with children, families, visitors, and staff. Your contributions are highly appreciated, and your presence is warmly welcomed. The scope of volunteer work varies, encompassing a range of roles and assignments. JTC aims to align visitor volunteers with areas of expertise and interest whenever feasible. Throughout the year, various programs and services at JTC provide opportunities for short-term volunteering. These include the Preschool, Parent-Infant Program, Friday Family School, International Sessions, Counseling & Child Development, Deaf & Hard of Hearing support, Listening & Spoken Language assistance, Events coordination, and participation in other Special Projects. These opportunities typically last less than two weeks but still offer a valuable and enriching experience for both the volunteer and the community.
At John Tracy Center (JTC), we offer diverse volunteer opportunities for short-term visitor volunteers, each with specific age requirements. Please find the age requirements for each opportunity listed below: 1. Preschool Volunteers: - Age Requirement: Volunteers must be at least 18 years old. - Preference: Preference is given to local university students who are under faculty supervision. - Physical Capability: Volunteers must be physically capable of engaging in typical preschool activities, including sitting for extended periods, lifting and holding children, and participating in active play. - Commitment: Given the short-term nature of the visit, volunteers should be prepared to contribute significantly within their available timeframe, aligning with the preschool's daily schedule. - Availability: Volunteer hours are primarily available from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM or 12:30 PM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Thursday, and 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Friday. These requirements ensure that short-term visitor volunteers can effectively contribute to the preschool program and provide valuable support to the children and staff at John Tracy Center. 2. General Volunteer Opportunities: - Minimum Age: 16 years old - Additional Notes: Volunteers under 18 may require adult supervision, depending on the task. 3. Special Events Volunteers: - Minimum Age: 16 years old - Additional Notes: Volunteers under 18 may require adult supervision, depending on the event. Please be aware that age requirements may vary depending on the specific nature of the volunteer opportunity and the tasks involved. At John Tracy Center, our top priority is ensuring the safety and well-being of the children in our care. To maintain this commitment, we require all short-term visitor volunteers to sign the necessary release forms and watch an instructional video. These measures help ensure the safety and security of our children and create a trusted environment for all involved.
If you decide not to participate, we kindly request that you inform your supervisor. This will allow us to allocate the opportunity to another individual who may be interested in joining.
